The Polar night it is not mean totally dark. During Polar night the most part of Kola Peninsula excluding the southernmost part and Kandalaksha located behind the Polar circle, experience a civil twilight. The civil twilight means — the Sun is between 0 and 6° above the horizon.
In Murmansk the Polar night continues from December 2 till January 11. During this time the night is from
15 p.m. till 10 a.m. and rest of day is the civil twilight.
