Tuloma

Rivers of Kola PeninsulaTuloma — a river at the North of Kola Peninsula.

Tulom’ — on the ancient Pomor language mean the dam or rapid.

The length is 64 km; the catchment area — 21 500sq. km.

The source is lake Notozero; the estuary — Kola gulf near Murmashi.

The tributaries: Pecha, Shovna, Ulita, Kozha, Gemyaha, Pak, Sholgoch, Medvezh’ya, Krotovaya.

On the 16th km from the source was located ancient saami’s settlement.

In 1937 on the last rapid had been constructed a hydro power plant and the town Murmashi, in 1961 — near the source — second hydro power plant.
